The MRCP Part 1 exam for the September 2026 diet is scheduled for 23rd September, Wednesday, on the official MRCP UK calendar. Those candidates who have already booked their seats for the examination will already be aware of the dates. But for this diet, what has to be checked is the significant shift in the examination pattern. According to the official website of the MRCP UK, this September 2026 diet is going to be the first sitting to be delivered fully in-centre, and remote online proctoring will no longer be available in most examination locations.

With the examination nearing, here is a checklist with everything that you need to pull together, whether you are giving the test for the first time or repeating the exam. So let’s get ready for the final sprint.

Know the Exam Before You Sit Down to Revise

Before putting all your efforts into the revision process, it is important to relook the examination pattern and confirm what you have in your mind is accurate.

The MRCP Part 1 exam is divided into two papers of 100 best-of-five multiple-choice questions each. Each paper will be of 3 hours duration. There will be a total of 200 questions. The Results are expected to be released in early November for the diet in discussion. Topics in the exam will include cardiology, neurology, gastroenterology, respirology, endocrinology, clinical pharmacology and other related topics. Since the scope of the exam is wide, it is recommended that you not limit your final revision to a few topics that you prefer.

Final-Weeks Revision Timetable has to be Realistic

The learning phase is over, and now is the time for consolidation. The MRCP Part 1 exam diet is getting closer. So now you do not have enough time to learn a new topic. The best thing you can do is to burn the midnight oil for ultimate revision of what you have already learned.  One strategy could be to break down your remaining time to practice and edit your weak areas. Incorporate the best practice of using full-length, timed mock tests. The last few days before the exam should be spent just revisiting your learned materials, without compromising on getting enough rest.

Make Practice Questions the Core of Your Strategy

Passive reading is not helpful when studying for the MRCP exams. Instead, it is preferable that you spend your remaining time till the exam practicing with MRCP Part1 MCQs.This will help you identify your knowledge gaps and reduce chances of recurrent errors in your real examination.

Also, when practicing ,if you’re getting wrong answers, it is better to review why you got a question wrong. The key to practicing for the exams is to review as much information as you can while also practicing as many questions as you can.

Structure Your MRCP Part 1 Preparation Around High-Yield Topics

In the last few days prior to sitting the MRCP Part 1 exam, you should focus on the topics which are tested most. The main MRCP Part 1 topics are cardiology, respiratory medicine, endocrinology and clinical pharmacology. Make sure to bring these topics up to date with the help of active recall techniques. These include the use of flashcards and self-testing. However, make sure you are also revisiting other major topics too.

Practice MRCP Part 1 MCQs with simulations and prepare yourself in advance for the mental stress of taking the exam. It will help you tremendously in adjusting to the environment you will be taking the exam in.

What to Do in the Final Week

  • Double check the location of the exam center, your ID, and the time you need to report. Do this as early as possible.
  • Mock Exams: Take at least 1 full length mock exam under simulated exam conditions per day.
  • Go over recent mistakes you’ve made on the MRCP Part 1 exam, if this is not your first attempt. Stop learning new material. Study only what you feel you need to reinforce your knowledge.
  • Re-check the MRCP UK website for any last minute changes.

Last minute panic can worsen things. Remember that learning 100% of the syllabus is not the key to pass the MRCP Part 1 Sep 2026 exam. But to make sure you are 100% ready to take the exam mentally. You can’t change the exam date, time and location. Know these for sure.

Final Thoughts

Success in the MRCP Part 1 exam is rarely about last-minute heroics. It comes from consistent, focused  MRCP Part 1 preparation built on realistic time management. And you have already done these . With the exam scheduled on  23 September 2026, exam-day readiness matters as much as knowledge itself. Structure your final sprint wisely and walk into the test centre having already rehearsed exactly what the day will demand of you.

Note: Always verify exam dates and logistics directly on the official MRCP(UK) website before finalising your revision plan.
