Is there any additional eligibility requirement? What does the exam format look like? How different is it from Part 1?’ often comes up at this stage.

This blog aims to provide you with a complete overview of the MRCP Part 2 exam 2026, covering everything from the exam format, eligibility criteria, upcoming exam dates, fees, application process, and how to prepare for it. What is MRCP Part 2?

The MRCP Part 2 exam, the second step towards achieving the MRCP title, can be taken by physicians who have completed Part 1 of the MRCP. It goes a step beyond by testing what you have learned in Part 1, along with your knowledge, problem-solving skills, and professional behaviour. The questions will be focused on the diagnosis, investigation, management and prognosis of a patient. While Part 1 is purely text-based multiple-choice questions, Part 2 often uses images to display clinical scenarios.

MRCP Part 2 exam format

The exam is delivered via a two-paper format. There will be 100 multiple-choice questions in each paper, and the duration is 3 hours for each paper. Both papers are completed within a day.
