So, you have cleared the first hurdle of MRCP and are planning to appear for the next hurdle, MRCP Part 2, in October 2025. It is quite natural to feel a mix of feelings at this stage. Relief from clearing the first hurdle, and nervous because Part 2 needs deeper clinical reasoning and application.
As the next MRCP Part 2 exam is scheduled to take place on 22 October 2025, you might have covered most of the syllabus. But the final week is very crucial in success. Here, we will guide you on how to make the most of the final week so you can walk into the exam hall calm and confident.
Understand what to expect
The MRCP Part 2 exam is computer-based and delivered via a two-paper format. Both papers are taken on a single day, and there will be 100 MCQs per paper. The total exam duration is six hours, with 3 hours for each paper. Unlike MRCP Part 1, which is purely made up of text-based questions, MRCP Part 2 uses images to display clinical scenarios.

Topics like cardiology, endocrinology, gastroenterology, infectious diseases, renal medicine and respiratory medicine carry the highest marks. So, try to focus more on these areas. Clinical pharmacology and neurology are also important.
Prioritise smart revision
Do not try to learn everything from the start during the final week. Instead, focus on revising high-yield areas, key guidelines, and frequently tested concepts. Keep your notes concise and handy for quick look-ups.
Simulate the real exam experience
Try to recreate the actual exam environment in a timed setting. Take full-length mock exams and follow the time limits to get used to the exam pressure. Review the errors afterward, which will help you identify your weak areas.
Organise your final revision
Break down your study sessions into smaller slots. For example, spend one session on cardiology, the next on neurology, then a block on respiratory medicine. By doing this, you will touch all important areas without overwhelming yourself.
We hope this information will be helpful for you. Remember to look after yourself as you approach the final days of preparation. Rest well, eat properly, and stay calm so you can perform at your best on the exam day.
