- Application period: 4 November to 11 November 2025
- Exam date: 28 January 2026
- Reasonable adjustment deadline: 18 November 2025
- Results by: 13 March 2026
- Exam fees: £502 (UK) | £672 (International)
Who is Eligible for MRCP Part 1?
The candidates must meet some eligibility criteria to apply for the examination.
- A primary medical qualification recognised by the GMC (UK)
- Minimum 12 months of medical work experience (e.g., FY1 or equivalent)
- The one-year experience must be completed before the exam date
How to Apply for MRCP Part 1
- Log in to your My MRCP(UK) account
- Make sure that all personal details, including correspondence address, are up to date.
- Indicate whether you are training in the UK or outside the UK.
- Select your preferred exam centre.
- Complete any special arrangements, if applicable.
- Pay the exam fee to finalise your application.
- Once submitted, you will be assigned an RCP code.
- Send evidence of your primary medical qualification along with your RCP code to PMQ@thefederation.uk.
About MRCP Part 1
MRCP Part 1 is the foundation of the three-step exam series of the MRCP. It tests a doctor’s core medical knowledge and understanding of clinical sciences. The exam consists of two papers, each containing 100 best-of-five multiple-choice questions. Each paper has a 3-hour duration. Questions span various specialities, focusing on diagnostic reasoning, applied science, and evidence-based medicine.
